The Advent

Artist Name:
The Advent
Profile:
The Advent formed in London 1994, the result of a cooperation between Cisco Ferreira and Colin McBean. Cisco began his involvement in style working as a studio engineer for Adonis and Larry Heard (Fingers Inc.), leading to his involvement in the legendary Jack Trax series. Cisco`s own debut releases began during the Belgian New Beat craze including Space Opera`s classic "The Project" (1988) and the eponymously titled "Cisco Ferreira" EP on Fragile. Colin had originally moved to London to study fashion design while working with the likes of Zandra Rhodes, Issey Miyake, and Michiko. In 1989, he met Keith from Bang the Party, and together with Cisco formed KCC, where the trio residented the notorious Confusion parties. Colin and Cisco began their own recordings together in 1990, working with Fade to Black for their release, "Bio Rythms 2" (Network). Next up were Salt Tank`s "ST1" and "ST2" EP`s (Inernal). Cisco officially signed to Internal Recordings in early 1994 and together with Colin formed The Advent. Since then their acclaimed EP series has combined the best elements of Electro, Techno, and Funk, consistently with a strictly dancefloor edge. Their two albums and several EP releases have been causing mass hysteria at venues across the globe. Whether commandeering a pair of 1210`s or in the middle of a cause celèbre PA, the dynamic duo had glimpsed the future of the dancefloor and decoded its alien funk scripture into their own sound system speaker shock blast. This is the new testament of dance music. It was the first time that a club ever held so much influence on them when they first played Tresor Club in 1998. It all made sense, their mood, the vibe of the club and the music played. So when the first "Sound Sketches" was built for Tresor Records, there was no doubt in their minds that it had been the club inspiring them to do the EP. Soon after that legendary performance, Colin decided to pursue his own more House-oriented avenues where he continues to appear on Kombination Research as well as his own Phoenix G imprint. The next Advent appearance in Berlin headlined Tresor`s Love Parade extravaganza for 1999, this time headed by Cisco himself. This outdoor PA also marked the release of "Sound Sketchez 2", Tresor's first double twelve-inch. Where the first "Sound Sketches" provided excellence in pounding minimalism, "Sound Sketchez 2" broadened the scope with expanded textures and rhythms. For the fans of fine art out there, this double-pack proved itself akin to very few... more like master drawings than sketches. End of the year 2000, The Advent kicked the millenium-bug with the third "Sound Sketch" for Tresor. Promising all the original floor-shaking, teeth-grinding rapidfire rhythmic changeups and dynamic crossovers: quality kickdown by any means necessary.
