On their new single "Back to Africa", NYC's Tour De Force links up with Jamaican MC Ranking Joe and Brooklyn's future bass producer Doctor Jeep. Building off their seminal debut LP "Battle Cry" and its follow up spin-off remix album "Battle Cry Remixed", Brooklyn's Tour De Force (TDF) connects with veteran Jamaican MC/deejay Ranking Joe on their new single "Back to Africa" . Together, they deliver a thunderous anthem, bringing together TDF's heavyweight production style with Ranking Joe's wailing vocals scattered with his trademark speedy tongue twisters. The vocal track is complemented by a dub version and a dancefloor-driven remix by Brooklyn's up and coming producer Doctor Jeep. With "Back to Africa", the brooklyn duo builds on their vision of forging the intersections between classic reggae dub and the local sounds of Brooklyn-bread bass music... always with high fidelity sound in mind! "Slave masters took us away from Africa, brought us down in the Caribbean. They took away our language and our culture". With his earnest lyrics, Ranking Joe laments the physical and cultural uprooting of african slaves throughouthistory.Reminiscingonthe africandiasporaandtherepatriationmovement,"BacktoAfrica"isafederating call to a spiritual return to the motherland, one of the tenets of the rastafarian belief. To complement the seriousness of the lyrical theme, T our De Force has crafted a militant beat driven by marching drum patterns underpinned by a hammering synth bassline. The dub versions adds even more bass weight, sparsely interjecting delayed vocals and building up to an echoed out frenzy. Known for his affinity for tropical bass, 808's, breakbeats and UK grime, Doctor Jeep reinvents the track into a tribal dance friendly banger, adding to the release's overall dynamic sound.
